SUMMARY: 

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the V.P., Business Unit Manager directs, and coordinates activities concerned with production of fluid flow product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  Leads the group to achieve service, productivity, profitability, quality and growth while providing a safe and diverse working environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls; obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered to reach the required return and strategic goals.

 

Interface with sales to support the process, marketing, forecasting, product development and product changes.

 

Develop team environment to maintain and enhance a competitive edge and service to the customer by planning and directing production activities and establishing production priorities in keeping with effective operations, cost factors, and on-time delivery.

 

Optimizes workflows by driving  a continuous improvement philosophy utilizing Lean/six-sigma principles, tools and methodologies. Leverages and incorporates automation appropriate to business needs.

 

Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

 

Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems assuring consistent adherence to quality standards and policies.

 

Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating defects, improve product quality in order to achieve growth in market share, and reduce costs.

 

Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.

 

Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products continuing to strive for high performance.

 

Take lead in safety awareness and implement new and innovative techniques to assure a safe working environment in all areas of responsibilities.

 

Continuously evaluates established performance standards by clearly defining leadership roles and expectations for all team members.

 

Provide leadership and support for product team metrics and decision making, assuring cooperation between the product teams by developing short- and long-term goals and objectives for the site that are in line with corporate goals.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises Managers in the Manufacturing/Operations for Space products in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Previous management experience preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment.  Knowledge of manufacturing processes and practices as applicable to plant product.  Possess excellent verbal communication skills both verbal and written, to support effective correspondence with internal as well as external customers/suppliers.  Ability to make independent judgments and decisions in matters having an important influence on company image and product reliability.  Familiarity with Military or Aerospace specifications and quality clauses.  Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, along with a minimum of eight (8) years of directly related production/operations experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
