SUMMARY: 

Following routine protocols and procedures under the supervision of the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety, performs environmental compliance reporting and regulations. Prepare AQMD emission reports, Toxic Release inventory report, storm water report and other regulatory reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare environmental compliance reports and documents, maintain chemical usage logs and calculate emission.

• Conduct facility audits for various regulatory compliance and maintain records.

• Lab work includes waste water and process chemistry analysis, hazardous waste management.

• Select and purchase safety supply and coordinate safety trainings.

• Will be required to interact with regulatory agency inspectors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have knowledge of AQMD, Storm water, Hazardous waste/material regulations and OSHA regulation. Knowledge in ROHS and REACH regulation is a plus. Experience in emissions calculations; laboratory is preferred but not required. Experience in industrial safety a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft word and excel. Microsoft Power point and Access is plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

M.S. degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or Engineering. One to three years of experience in environmental health and safety field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Exchanges routine information in an appropriate manner requiring good oral and written communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Chemistry Knowledge: (Optional): 2 Basic chemistry knowledge and familiarity with lab equipment.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to lead small groups in problem solving exercises.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Hazard communication (HazCom) provides education on how to read MSDS. Hazardous Waste regulations. DOT (Department of Transportation) training.

HAZWOPER PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Near vision to see objects clearly within 20 inches; sharp focus to adjust vision when doing close work that change in distance from eyes; full spectrum vision to identify and distinguish color. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s) for example, using a keyboard. Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hand or hands, but without finger dexterity. Sitting in a normal seated position or alternately standing for extended periods of time. Frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing 10 lbs. or less. Occasionally pushing, pulling/handling objects weighing 50 lbs., or less. Ability to move about, climb stairs and negotiate around obstacles in tight places. Ability to work with use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, respirators, apron or protective coverall and boots.
