Project Engineer, Electrical, Defense Products
General Description:
BSEE preferred, sound electrical and mechanical experience with valves, solenoids, electro-mechanical components, solid modeling (CAD), wiring diagrams, circuits, electrical assembly and test experience.
Skills Required:
- Lead efforts with cross-functional departments and stakeholders to drive engineering projects through the engineering development process according to schedule and budget.
- Collaborate with a project team including engineers, quality, operations, sales and supply chain
- Solid fundamentals in electrical design, circuits, wiring diagrams
- Create and review new electrical schematics to meet design objectives
- Source electrical components per government and customer specifications
- Prefer experience in the design of mechanical or electrical components and assemblies for naval system applications, fluid control valve technology, and/or electrical and electromechanical systems.
- Experience with product design and process FMEA, Design for Manufacturing (DFM),
Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Reliability (DFR) methods
and techniques.
Specific Duties:
- Work with defense customers to understand, define and meet specifications
- Support sales and marketing for new designs to estimate technical scope of work and write technical proposals to accurately communicate the design concept
- Review, analyze, and verify compliance and acceptance of technical specification requirements for naval submarine or defense products
- Schedule and lead design reviews to meet internal engineering development procedures from cradle to grave
- Conceptualize and create new and preliminary designs/layouts using initial 3D CAD tools to convert the specification into product Design using industry standards.
- Perform analysis to validate compliance to technical requirements
- Review electrical and mechanical engineering drawings for approval using GD&T standards and best practice.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality control to take design from concept to production.
- Assemble and test prototype and development hardware and create initial test plans and procedures for qualification and production.
- Write detailed valve and component test procedures to simulate systems and validate performance requirements per defense specifications and guidelines
