SUMMARY: 

Applies accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports as required monthly, quarterly, and annually by performing the following duties.  

This is a temporary position, and we are seeking a commitment of at least 4 months. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Prepare monthly financial statements,

 

Prepare month-end closing activities, including collecting data to prepare Journal entries, variance analysis, and problem-solving reports as requested.

 

Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and reports.

 

Maintain the integrity of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.

 

Responsible for reconciling and reviewing balance sheet accounts.

 

Ensure sales revenue and monthly billing are prepared promptly and accurately.

 

Ensure costing accurately aligns with sales revenue.

 

Ability to implement SAS 606 for proper revenue recognition

 

Provide special audit schedules to auditors as requested.

 

Assist with preparing the annual Incurred Cost Proposal Package for DCAA (Defense & Contract Audit Agency).

 

Review and change project profitability based upon estimate to completion calculation,

 

Requirements:

 

Previous experience as a senior accountant, General ledger accountant, or assistant Controller.

 

Proficient in using MS Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience using SAP or similar ERP software.

 

Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment, including government cost accounting rules.

 

Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)  and Sarbanes Oxley.

 

Ability to problem solve, including tracing accounting transactions for accuracy and Compliance.

 

Have experience or worked in a Project management environment, including calculating estimate to completion calculations

 

Experience working with SAP or similar ERP system

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of Accounting experience in a manufacturing/job costing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations,

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities this job requires include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The majority of work is performed in a typical office environment with no major sources of discomfort. It is essentially a normal, controlled working environment with noise levels within acceptable safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions. 

 

This position will require weekend availability once a month to assist with month-end close.
