SUMMARY: 

SUMMARY:

 

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates manufacturing plans and detailed digital visual work instructions. Provide redlines and/or updating of Manufacturing Work Instructions on the shop floor.

Assists in tool design when required to help support operations by developing tooling concepts and using of CAD . CAM software to model and release of tool drawings.

Ability to deploy model-based designs (MBD) into production floor by utilizing manufacturing interfaces and tools as needed.

Should have expertise to work with advanced manufacturing functions and engineering integration to deploy continuous improvements in manufacturing processes.

Reviews and manages the configuration management of manufacturing programs, workflows, MES systems, as applicable by integrating into ERP and PLM systems

Must have a good understanding of MRB/ERB/CCB processes and capable of dispositioning engineering documents or designs effectively.

Communicates manufacturing plans and processes to internal and external customers through Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.

Continuously work to improve manufacturing methods, efficiency, and product quality. Participate in continuous improvement projects.

Creating and improving manufacturing processes to meet challenging hardware requirements. Reviewing engineering designs and drawings for accuracy and manufacturability.

Managing Manufacturing Bill of Materials using ERP / PLM systems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and demonstrate the ability to determine critical parameters and develop process controls.

Proven multi-tasker and self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of machining processes; lathe, milling, CNC programming.

Ability to interface with project engineering, industrial engineering, quality engineering and functional leads.

Experience with CAD software. Requires U.S. Citizenship.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering field. 8+ years related engineering experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms as well as some bending and/or stooping.

Occasional light lifting of reams of paper or books up to 20 lbs. or equivalent may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of work is performed in a typical office environment with no major sources of discomfort. Essentially a normal controlled working environment with noise levels within acceptable safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.
