Title:  Multi-Fab / Assembly Technician

SUMMARY:

Performs assembly, dimensional and visual inspection and packaging of piece part(s) per customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interprets work order to understand customer specifications and requirements for each part order.

Performs visual inspection of parts in sheet form or individual piece parts through unaided eye and/or microscope to identify any imperfections or irregularities.

If needed will dimensionally inspect part using inspection equipment such as optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, drop gages etc.

If  required per customer’s specifications, may use bonding fixtures and heated platen presses to assemble metal parts.

May be required to assemble detailed parts using welding equipment such as a Resistance Welder.

Per customers requirements will cut and/or stack piece parts and use good packaging techniques to prepare product for shipping.

Assist other production areas such as metal preparation, resist application, and resist removal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read and comprehend blueprint drawings, customer specifications and any other written requirements.  Good verbal and written English communication skills.  Experience with standard inspection tools such as Optical Comparators, Micrometers, Calipers, Drop Gauges etc. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a minimum of two (2) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to write and speak English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of work is performed in a typical office environment with no major sources of discomfort. May require extended periods of standing while operating equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes and vibration.  Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Proper safety training and equipment is provided to the employee for the safe performance of required duties.
