SUMMARY:

The Production Controller ensures continuous movement of parts through the production process, working closely with cross-functional teams to maintain work order status and safeguard flight hardware during transitions. The position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Track work orders and ensure smooth part flow between operations.

Maintain real-time visibility of part status across departments.

Handle and safeguard parts during idle periods and operation transitions.

Perform initial checks of work order sign-offs and documentation.

Create requisitions for outside processing and coordinate part movement.

Monitor and replenish floor stock to support production needs.

Provide WIP updates during production meetings and flag blockers.

Escalate delays and coordinate with functional teams for resolution.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining part integrity

Self-starter with a proactive attitude and willingness to ask questions

Comfortable working in cleanroom and controlled environments

Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across teams

Highly organized with a sense of urgency and follow-through

Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and professionalism

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS:

Prior experience in production control, planning, or Operations coordination 

Associate’s degree or higher

Familiarity with work order systems and ERP/MRP tools (e.g., SAP, ShopVue) 

Basic technical understanding of aerospace or precision manufacturing processes 

Experience working in cleanroom or controlled environments 

Exposure to quality documentation, traceability, or regulated production standards (e.g., AS9100) 

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, part tracking systems, and digital communication tools 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required 

Some prior work experience in a structured environment (e.g., warehouse, retail, manufacturing, or service) 

Must demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and a strong work ethic 

Motivated to learn and grow within a fast-paced production environment 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk the production floor, stand for extended periods, and move between work centers—approximately 75% of the day will be on foot. The role also requires reaching with hands and arms, occasional bending or stooping, and lifting parts or materials up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is primarily performed on the production floor with regular exposure to cleanroom environments, machine shops, and occasionally outdoor areas. Sometime will be spent in an office setting for documentation and coordination tasks. The role sometimes involves working around moving equipment, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels, all within established safety standards. Proper PPE and adherence to safety protocols are always required.
