Title: Production Planner II

With minimal supervision, is responsible for the maintenance of optimum finished goods inventory levels to meet or exceed customer expectations in Delivery, Service and Reliability. Responsible for planning and scheduling "make to order" parts based on actual sales orders and forecasts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take total ownership, responsibility and accountability for assigned product line(s) in order to represent product(s) at production meetings.
- Manage plant inventory levels for assigned projects which includes ordering the correct quantities, determining the appropriate lead times, tracking the available storage space, and identifying reasons that require inventory adjustments and correcting the cause.
- Create and generate required Work Orders and Purchase Requisitions to make or buy required piece parts for subassemblies and assemblies for assigned projects.
- Manage the completion of each component to support the project schedule.
- Recommend ECN's (Engineering Change Notices) as it occurs during manufacturing process.
- Negotiate schedule deviations and priority with Contracts, Quality, Shop and Project Managers.
- Keep Manager informed of unresolved production scheduling issues requiring attention.
- Maintain planning documents in a manner suitable to support and comply with the department standard operating procedures, as well as the Company and AS9100/ISO/CFR/DFAR standards.
- Other duties as assigned by Production, Sr Materials Planning Manager, or VP of Supply Chain.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in planning and scheduling preferably in an Aerospace manufacturing environment. Minimum three (3) year experience using an integrated (MRP/ERP) system required. Understanding of master scheduling and forecasting processes. Possess excellent verbal communication skills both verbal and written, to support effective correspondence with internal as well as external customers. Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks to completion. Ability to interact with various internal departments. Ability to read and interpret Blueprint drawings and specifications. Proficiency using MS Office software i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A BA/BS degree with a minimum of four (4) years of experience working in an Aerospace Manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply simple math concepts i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focuses.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Majority of work is performed in a typical office environment with no major sources of discomfort. Essentially a normal controlled working environment with noise levels within acceptable safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions. On occasion may be required to enter production area where the employee may be in the presence of moving mechanical parts and the possibility of exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level in plant and/or shop work area is usually moderate.
